Women’s August Meeting in Ebonyi State was reportedly disrupted by the South East Security outfit code named Ebubeagu on Saturday.
The venue of the event, Peoples Club, Abakaliki, was said to have been invaded by Ebubeagu with their official vehicles and guns.
According to reports, they immediately started shooting sporadically into the air forcing the women to scamper for safety in various directions.
A video obtained by AbaCityBlog saw women lamenting how they were given a hot chase by the Ebubeagu Security.
Meanwhile, report has it that the Ebubeagu may have been sent to disrupt the event following the presence of Amb Ifeanyi Chukwuma Odii, the Ebonyi State governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.
The meeting was said to have been convened by a Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) stalwart, Nwakego Emmanuel, popularly known as Ego Bekee to empower the women.
The women were said to have gathered from the 13 local government areas of the state in their hundreds when the gunmen stormed the venue.
TheNation reports that the women regrouped at the campaign office of Ifeanyichukwu Ọdịi to continue with the event after the disruption.
