The Faculty of Arts of University of Nigeria Nsukka (UNN) has congratulated Representative member-elect, Hon. Benjamin Kalu on his victory in the recently concluded general elections.

Hon. Benjamin Kalu contested to represent Bende Federal Constituency, Abia State in one of the most widely monitored campaigns in the last general election. His victory has since been greeted with felicitations from all parts of the country.

In the congratulatory letter signed by the Dean of the Faculty of Arts, Professor Nnanyelugo Okoro, the university thanked Hon. Kalu for his contributions to its Department of History and International Studies and declared an interest to work with the member-elect to address issues in Bende Federal Constituency during his tenure.

You would recall that the university of Nigeria recently awarded him with the Youth Motivator of the year 2018 Award for his achievements and consistent engagement of youths for their development.

Responding, Hon Benjamin Kalu thanked the Nigerian foremost University for extending this great hand of partnership. He said,

“Excellent research leads to great development in any nation. The citadel of learning remains where the best brains reside. To make good laws for the nation, they have a big role to play both in the analysis of the challenges we face as well as in proffering solutions to them.

“These egg heads are in touch with the every day realities of an average Nigerian because in their various lecture rooms they are faced by the various faces of our needs. They research about them, debate them and are most times, in the best position to advise on them.

This is indeed a resourceful offer from the great highly respected University of Nigeria Nsukka and Bende Federal Constituency and my office as a Federal legislator will surely leverage on this. A periodic interface with stake holders within the university community will drive the needed value intended by this offer.

I believe in the good job our universities are doing and will keep on supporting them in every little way possible to sustain their greatness.

I specifically thank the Dean of the faculty of Arts University of Nigeria for extending this hand of partnership. Thanks for making it a national “Joint Task”.
