US based Micro-blog, Twitter has suspended the personal account of the outgoing President of United States of America, Donald J. Trump.
The suspension of the account came on the heels of petition Twitter received regarding Trump’s account allegedly posing as a threat to the United States.
Before the suspension, Facebook has already deleted accounts belonging to Trump both on Instagram, citing national threat.
Quick check on Trump’s account on Twitter showed it’s no longer activate.
Yesterday, before the suspension, Trump has already vowed not to attend the inauguration of his successor, Joe Biden on January 20.
“To all of those who have asked, I will not be going to the Inauguration on January 20th,” Trump tweeted.
Twitter said in a blog post that Mr. Trump’s personal @realDonaldTrump account, which has more than 88 million followers, would be suspended immediately.
The company said two tweets that Mr. Trump had posted on Friday — one calling his supporters “patriots” and another saying he would not go to the presidential inauguration on Jan. 20 — violated its rules against glorifying violence.
The tweets “were highly likely to encourage and inspire people to replicate the criminal acts that took place at the U.S. Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021,” Twitter said, referring to the storming of the Capitol by a mob of Trump loyalists.
