These 6 Nigerian Igbo Women Are Making The Country Proud

There are lots of Igbo women out there who are making waves in their respective careers. Bringing them together and celebrating them via writing isn’t a bad idea, hence we decided to celebrate just five among the countless women out there.

We say kudos to other women who didn’t make the list of the these five amazing women who are making the country proud. Although, we will compile another list, which will include more of these super women. But today, let’s get down to the list.

The facts that these women are being selected from a region known as the Igbo speaking part of Nigeria, does not mean that other regions in Nigeria doesn’t have the same women with amazing skills and careers.

But showing these women will push others to reach the peak of their goals.

Margaret Chinwe Anadu

1). Magaret Chinwe

Margaret Chinwe Anadu, who graduated of Harvard university in 2003 made it to Fortune 2020, 40 under 40.

She became Goldman Sachs’s youngest female Black partner in history at age 37 in 2018 where she oversees a $4 billion portfolio.

Ms. Chioma Odidika returned $4,000 USD from possible scammers.

2). Chioma Odidika

Ms. Chioma Odidika, who resides in Columbia, South Carolina USA, returned $4,000 USD from possible scammers.

She was rewarded with an Integrity Award from the Sheriff of Richland County and also offered a job for her uncommon act of honesty.

Chinenye “Chiney” Ogwumike, an IGBO woman, became the first BLACK woman to host a national radio show for ESPN

3). Chiney” Ogwumike

Chinenye “Chiney” Ogwumike, an IGBO woman, became the first BLACK woman to host a national radio show for ESPN, also being the First WNBA player to do so.

She was born in 1992 and played for Los Angeles Sparks.

In 2015, Dehlia Umunna, an IGBO woman, made history as Harvard’s first ever Nigerian Law Professor.

4). Dehlia Umunna

In 2015, Dehlia Umunna, an IGBO woman, made history as Harvard’s first ever Nigerian Law Professor.

She has since served as deputy director and clinical instructor at Harvard Law School’s Criminal Justice Institute (CJI).

5). Pearlena Igbokwe

Pearlena Igbokwe, (has) in 2020 promoted to Chairman, Universal Studio Group, which encompasses Universal Television, Universal Content Productions (UCP) & NBC Universal International Studios.

Meet Roxy Ogechi Ndebumadu; 27-yrs-old Igbo Woman elected as Council of Bowie County Maryland, USA

6). Roxy Ogechi Ndebumadu

An American/Nigerian woman of Igbo extraction, Roxy Ogechi Ndebumadu, is currently elected council woman of Bowie County in Maryland, USA, she shared her story of how she became the Council Woman at the age of 26.

Roxy who studied Computer Science before entering into politics told BBC that she competed at the age of 26 and won despite four other contestants joining her in the race.

Ndebumadu said her reason for running for office was to help the needy in the city.

Roxy said she started hunting for votes just a month before the election which gave her the victory.
