Imran J Umar, a Nigerian student stuck in Sudan has narrated how his colleagues from the country fleeing from the war outbreak have to use their Passports as collateral for their bus to get going over alleged non-payment by the Federal Government.
Umar, made the revelation while responding to a tweet by Madam Abike Dabiri-Erewa, the Chairman, Nigerians in Diaspora Commission, NIDCOM.

Madam Abike, responding to a video of Nigerian Students whose their buses stopped in the middle of desert over non-payment to the drivers, said she has reached out to the Director General of the National Emergency Management Agency, NEMA, stressing that the bus has continued the journey and every issue has been sorted out.
“I have just spoken to @nemanigeria dg. He confirmed the buses have continued their Journey and said whatever issues have been resolved.”

In a swift response, Imran J Umar @Imranjameel2002, quoting Madam Abike’s tweet, called her a liar for taking credit. He however, revealed that the students have to give their Passports to the drivers as collateral pending when the payment will be made.
When asked how he got the information, Umar said because he is one of the stranded students. He also lampooned the Nigerian embassy in Sudan.
It is dishearten to say the “Nigerian embassy in sudan” is the most useless embassy in the world.
The consulate is full of bunch of useless workers with no human sympathy starting from the ambassador down to the clerk.— Imran J Umar (@Imranjameel2002) April 27, 2023
It’s 5:30pm in Sudan and there’s still almost 2,000 Nigerian students stranded in IUA university Sudan waiting for the arrival of the buses that will take us to Egypt boarder, but there’s no sign of any buses.😭🥺#SudanConflict@abikedabiri pic.twitter.com/23RW7HzTdY
