August 24, 2020
in Nigeria News

The Coalition of Igbo Groups namely World Igbo Youth Congress, Southeast Women Professionals and Igbo Students Union had lauded the Courageous moves and respectful remorse of Arewa Consultative Youth Forum led by Alhaji Yerima Shettima to tender Unreserved apology to Ndigbo after three years of quit Notice that was Unjustly served to igbos in June 2017.

Ohanaeze Ndigbo Youth Council Worldwide (OYC) said the apology was called off on August 2017 through it effort, noting that OYC continued pressures on Arewa Youths brought the deserved Victory over the recent Arewa Youths Apology Over 2017 Quit Notice to Igbos.

In a Joint statement signed by, Mazi Alex Okemiri (President World Igbo Youth Congress),Dr Mrs Helen Ogbonnaya ( National leader, Southeast Women Professionals, Comrade Chidi Ugwujo ( President Igbo Students Union), thanked Chief Ralph Uwazuruike, leader Biafra independence Movement (BIM), for hosting the repented Arewa Youths and Commended the historic Role he had played.

The Coalition recalled that on 1st July 2017 at Nike lake, Enugu, at the Enugu Political Meeting between Southeast National Assembly Caucus, Igbo Traditional Rulers, Religious Groups, Ohanaeze Ndigbo and Southeast Governors Forum, Chief Nnia Nwodo accused Mazi Okechukwu Isiguzoro, President General Ohanaeze Ndigbo Youth Council Worldwide of piloting with Arewa Youths to dislodge igbos living in 19 Northern States.

The coalition, however, said the allegations against Isiguzoro, was so quite grievous that during the Call off (of) the Quit Notice in 2017, Arewa Youths during their Abuja 2017 Press conference in the Presence of Northern Governors,While Calling Off the 2017 Quit Notice, applauded the efforts of Ohanaeze Ndigbo Youth Council Worldwide for their persuasive views for a peaceful Nigeria.

Parts of the statement said;

“Coalition are happy that the efforts of OYC yester- years are paying off, We have accepted the Apology from Arewa Youths and It had successfully established a New Political Movement and alliance between Northern And Eastern Regions and had vindicated Ohanaeze Ndigbo Youth Council Worldwide in their Sincerity to make Igbos safe in the North”.

In a quick response, Ohanaeze Ndigbo Youth Council Worldwide insists that there is an established Cordial relationship Since 2016 between the Two largest Ethnic Nationalities Youth Groups in Nigeria ( Arewa Consultative Youth Forum and Ohanaeze Ndigbo Youth Council Worldwide).

OYC said, With the Apology Accepted on behalf of Igbos, the next Agenda is to Pressurizing Arewa Youths to adopt one of the Three igbo adopted Presidential Aspirants (Rt Hon Chibuike Amaechi, Governor Dave Umahi and Ogbonnaya Onu) for 2023.
