The Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi has said the party’s Presidential Campaign Council (PCC) list will be updated following what he described as “omissions and erroneous entries in the list”.
AbaCityBlog recall that the Labour Party on Wednesday released it’s Presidential Campaign Council List, which had 1,234 names, including the army general appointed as a representative of the North-Central.
The list elicited reactions online from the party loyalists and Obi supporters across the country.
Most of the reaction was generated following the inclusion of Major General John Eneche a retired army general and former director of defence information who claimed photos and videos from the massacre of unarmed demonstrators at Lekki Tollgate on October 2020 were photoshopped.
Obi supporters kicked against the inclusion of General Eneche and some other personalities in the list , citing erroneous and lack of regard to those who lost their lives at Lekki Toll Gate shooting.
Reacting, Peter Obi in a statement on Friday said after receiving numerous calls and messages over the PCC list, he had discussed with the party chairman and all complaints have been noted and the list will be updated.
He said the updated list will be made public soon, adding that the party is committed to accountability, responsiveness and transparency.
He tweet: “I’ve received several calls of concern following the release of the Labour Party’s Presidential Campaign Council list. Admittedly, there were some omissions and erroneous entries in the list, hence the concerns expressed.
“In response, the Labour Party Chairman in the presence of members of the NWC addressed the issues during a press conference. In keeping with our commitment to accountability, responsiveness and transparency, an updated list will be issued in due course. I plead for patience. -PO
