The former Abia State Governor and current Chief Whip of the Senate, Dr. Orji Uzor Kalu has unveiled his 2023 manifesto if elected as the next Nigeria President in 2023.
The business mogul who is yet to publicly declare intention to run for the office of the president in 2023 said what Nigerian people need is security, strong economy and getting back their confidence, which will be his primary focus if elected. He added that, President Muhammadu Buhari has done his bit in fighting insecurity but it’s so unfortunate that most state governors are not helping matters and the people are blaming it on the President.
Senator Kalu, representing Abia North senatorial district made the statement in an interview with Arise TV (The Morning Show), yesterday – He said he is waiting for the party, APC to zone the Presidential ticket to Southeast before he will consider declaring publicly to run for the office of the President come 2023.
Speaking on his manifesto, Senator Kalu said his main priority as a President will be to restore security, set up a good team to manage the economy and thirdly, to restore the confidence of Nigerian people.
In his word; “My first priority will be to give Nigerian people freedom from terrorism, bandits anything you call it, from Sahara desert to Atlantic ocean, I will like to give them freedom to go to anywhere they want to go.
“Because that is freedom everyone needs and I’m capable in doing that.
“My first priority will be security of our people, life and property. When I was governor, the first thing I did was clean up the criminal hideouts.
“The SSS saw that, the Army saw that, Police saw that, from 1999 to 2007, you can leave your car in Aba, in Abia State and go anywhere and nothing will happen to it. If people will say the truth they saw it and they were moving freely and I went to rescue Anambra State, to give them a security roadmap that can survive the state because my wife is from the state.
“I went to help the then governor to put a security system that survived the state from Onitsha, Nnewi, they were no go areas, so I know what to do, firstly is security and secondly will be to restore Nigerian people confidence that they are Nigerians, give them the confidence that they are Nigerians.
“The Youth need the confidence, the elderly people need the confidence, the men and women need confidence to go to United states, go to UK, go to anywhere in the world to say I’m proudly Nigerian and that is the dress I want to wear.
“Because confidence is everything, we have lost confidence from where we are coming from, to restore confidence is the number two things we will do, number three; is to go back to de-commercialize electricity, to make sure we restore electricity to our people, once we have electricity we have everything, then every other thing will follow.
“I don’t want to talk about road construction, believe me, I will create economic miracle for Nigerian people, this is what we need, we should be out of politics , politics should be a bygone, I will like to put up a good team to make sure that the bankers, the industrialists, the students, everybody feel that they are Nigerians and have feel that we can manage the economy very well.
“Our formal focus will be on economy and security.
