The Supreme Court on Friday, 3 March 2023, ruled that the old Naira notes remain legal tender till 31 December 2023, as it set aside the deadline of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN).
The apex court made the declaration on Friday while delivering judgment in a suit instituted by three States of the federation against the Federal Government on the policy.
A seven-member panel of Justices held that the old N200, N500 and N1000, therefore, remain valid legal tender till December 31, 2023.
