Barrister Ifeanyi Ejiofor, the lead counsel to the leader of Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, has reacted to the reports that the Federal Government had listed them as accomplices in the six count amendment charges against their client.

AbaCityBlog reported that the Federal Government had re-arraigned Nnamdi Kanu, on an amended six-count of treasonable felony.

The amendment came on a day the trial Judge, Justice Binta Nyako fixed to hear an application Kanu filed to be released on bail, pending the determination of the charge against him.

A member of Kanu’s legal team, who craved anonymity, told ChannelsTV that the FG had in the amended charge, listed some lawyers representing the embattled IPOB leader, including Misters Ifeanyi Ejiofor and Maxwell Opara, as accomplices of the defendant.

However, Justice Nyako went ahead to strike out the amended six count charges preferred against Nnamdi Kanu.

Reacting to the reports that his name and the other lawyer were listed as accomplices of Kanu, Ejiofor said, the story is “untrue and fake.”

According to him, their names only appear on the amendment charges as “contact persons to Nnamdi Kanu and not as accomplices”.

Refuting the reports which was publicised on National dailies, Barrister Ejiofor, in a statement, urged the public to disregard the reports, adding that Kanu’s legal team are winning as the amended six count charges were struck out.

He said: “Kindly ignore publications emanating from Nigeria brown envelope Newspapers, both online and print media suggesting that my name and that of Bar Maxwell Okpara were included in the Six count amended charge as accomplices.

“It is FAKE, UNTRUE and should be completely discountenanced.

“Our names were merely listed among his contact persons and not as accomplices

“As ONYENDU’s Attorneys” we should be in a position to be contacted in his matters or briefs we are handling for him.

“For the record, the Six account Amended charge filed yesterday by the Federal Government on ONYENDU’s case was equally struck out this morning.

“His Lordship also insisted that there must be an end to amendment.

“We are winning and foreword ever , backward never.
