Bishop Silas Eke of Kingly People’s Assembly has urged Nigerians to emulate the humility and patriotism of the Chief Whip of the Senate, Senator Orji Uzor Kalu by promoting the peace and unity of the nation at all times.

Eke, in an interview with journalists on Monday morning in Abuja described the Chief Whip of the Senate, Senator Orji Uzor Kalu as the most patriotic and detribalised Nigerian since 1999.

“Senator Orji Uzor Kalu has demonstrated enormous wisdom, honesty and good leadership. He established friendship, harmony and accommodation among the people of Nigeria”.

The Cleric who was reacting to Kalu’s call on Nigerians to unite, further described him as a pan-African administrator, achiever, go-getter, and a patriot.

According to him, “Senator Orji Uzor Kalu is blind to ethnicity, deaf to religion and numb to language.”

He said Kalu has made a name for himself as a consensus builder and a beacon of exemplary leadership.

He said such character has helped him attain an enviably high level in his career and also command the admiration and respect of his superiors and contemporaries from all parts of the country.

“Senator Kalu is among the very few Nigerians sorounded by people who are Hausa, Ibibio, Efik, Ijaw, Kanuri, Fulani, Igbo and others. He doesn’t discriminate or hate anyone; his brand of politics is without bitterness. Nigerians should emulate him for the overall growth and development of our nation,” he said.

Recall that Senator Orji Uzor Kalu had on Saturday urged Nigerians to love one another for the unity of the nation.

Kalu in a post on his verified Facebook page, said, “When I woke up this morning, the first thing I did was to meditate on Nigeria and other things affecting us as a nation.

“The level of hatred among Nigerians especially the elites is alarming. We are too religious yet it is not enough to make us love one another.

“Hate in Nigeria, like racism, is a system’s problem and it is structural with both the leaders, elites and masses fully involved in it.

“Both the citizens and the state are equally, guilty of this. We must learn to promote love among ourselves and appreciate the fact that we are Nigerians. The Elites are number one culprits of hate as well as hate-speech. Nigeria should be structured and governed on the basis truth, love and patriotism.

“We must learn to live together as one just like Jesus Christ admonished us in Matthew 22:34-39.

“But when the Pharisees heard that He had put the Sadducees to silence, they gathered themselves together. And one of them, a lawyer, asked Him a question, testing Him, “Teacher, which is the greatest commandment in the Law?” And He said to him, “‘You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind. This is the great and foremost commandment. The second is like it, ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’ On these two commandments depend the whole Law and the Prophets.

“While meditating on this verse, I discovered two things: first, the greatest commandment in the Word of God. :

“Then he adds his own words to put the commandment even higher than the question required. The question was, “Which is the great commandment?” and Jesus says, “This is the great and foremost commandment.”

“What am I trying to say? The greatest and most important thing you can do is to love. Love God and everyone around you. Why then as religious as we are, we still hate ourselves even as Nigerians?”
