Lawmaker accuses Abia State govt of abandoning Port Harcourt road after Securing loan of $56.4 Million from World Bank

Hon. Obinna Ichita, Abia State House of Assembly member representing Aba South State constituency, have continued to call out the Okezie Ikpeazu’s led administration over abandonment of Port Harcourt road, Aba.

AbaCityBlog recall that Mr Ichita and Abia State Government are already in court over the case of the Port Harcourt road. However, the lawmaker has continued to reiterate his statement that Abia State government squandered the money meant for the reconstruction of the once ever busy Port Harcourt road.

In a Facebook post, Ichita accused the Abia State government of abandoning the road project after using it to secure a loan of fifty six million, four hundred US dollars ($56.4 USD) from the World Bank.

He said many people have lost their lives as a result of the insensitive nature of Abia State government but the government does not care.

Sharing a video which displays the current State of Port Harcourt road, Ichita said:

“Abia State Government told the world bank that they were ready to construct this road and other flood mitigation projects in Aba.(sic)

According to him, “Abia State government demolished people’s houses and business premises and pretended to be ready for the construction work.(sic)

“The world bank paid the money. Since that 56.4 Million US Dollars loan was secured and deposited into zenith bank in Umuahia, Abia State government abandoned the projects.(sic)

He said, it’s “Unfortunate that some people still defend this Abia State government that has pauperized the civil servants and emasculated the traders in Abia.(sic)

“Traders whose shops were destroyed by the government in Ariaria market and Ahia Ohuru market all in Aba, are yet to recover from the pains inflicted on their families by Abia State government.(sic)
