Hon Benjamin Kalu empowers Bende farmers on Agribusiness management (Photos)

On the 2nd and 3rd of July, 2020, House Of Representatives member, representing Bende Federal Constituency, Hon. Benjamin Okezie Kalu, who doubles as the Spokesman of the Federal House presented an Agribusiness Empowerment to his constituency.

A two days program tagged; “Zonal Intervention Program (Phase 1) Federal Cooperative College Oji River”. Was focused at “Youth and Women Empowerment/Agribusiness Management in Bende Federal Constituency, Abia State.

The program, sponsored by Hon. Kalu to his constituency, targeted at local farmers was powered by Bonas Investment limited and facilitated by Reap Africa Initiative.

At the opening of the program, the beneficiaries were handed over PPE provided by Hon. Kalu, for protection against covid-19 before entering the hall. Inside the hall, they also observed social distancing in accordance with the World Health Organization (WHO) and the NCDC in bid to stop the spread of Coronavirus.

During the program which lasted for two days, the day one was used for lecturing and training the beneficiaries who were picked across the wards in Bende irrespective of political parties.

Inside the hall, the beneficiaries also observed social distancing in accordance with the World Health Organization (WHO) and the NCDC in bid to stop the spread of Coronavirus

The beneficiaries were trained on four different types of Agribusiness, mainly, Catfish farming, Cassava farming, Poultry farming and Pig farming.

The facilitators lectured the beneficiaries on the need and how to grow on different Agribusiness.

They also taught the beneficiaries on the things to avoid and the many mistakes of farmers which has led to many lost in business.

The Facilitators from Reap Africa are; On “Cassava and Pig farming” – Mr. Fabian Okaka. On “Poultry farming”; Kingsley Iheke, etc.

At the end of the training, the beneficiaries numbering over 50 were handed over netted cage, one carton of chick and bags of feed for their chick which are 3 weeks old ready to breed.

The Empowerment was presented by Hon. Emmanuel Eke, Campaign DG to Hon. Benjamin Okezie Kalu.

The beneficiaries in their happy mood thank Hon. Benjamin Okezie Kalu for his qualitative representation in the House.
