When the Speaker of Abia State House of Assembly, Rt Hon Chinedum Enyinnaya Orji flagged of his Free ICT Training/Empowerment Programme for Abia youths on April 15, 2021 in Umuahia, little did anyone know the immense impact that was going to have on the participants who are already over the moon about their highly competitive knowledge of the courses taken at the programme which include:
1. Graphics Design
2. Web Development
3. Digital Marketing and
4. Computer Appreciation
With the programme rounding off, the students are full of praises for the Speaker for delivering them from the captivity of ICT illiteracy in the 21st century and turning them to proud practitioners through the training. They are particularly thrilled that throughout the three months they are spending on the training, they were not at anytime charged a dime or asked to provide any amount whatsoever as the training has been running completely free of charge even with the provision of training centres, facilities and facilitators.
They expressed their eternal gratitude to the Speaker for the unprecedented kind gesture.
The participants also thanked Prince Mayor of Naprima Ideals Technologies Ltd and those from Softicu Hub for their support and guidance throughout the duration of the programme.
The implication of this is that the about 200 participants at the programme have graduated from bread seekers to becoming breadwinners, employers of labour and proud service providers courtesy of the Abia Speaker’s Free ICT Training/Empowerment Programme, to the benefit of their respective families in particular and Abia State in general.
To show their appreciation, the participants made a wooden frame of the image of the Speaker which they presented through his Chief of Staff, Mazi Kenneth Ezeigbo.
Date for the formal graduation ceremony which will include presentation of certificates to the participants will be announced in due course even as the training continues.
(The Free ICT Training/Empowerment Programme is another milestone in the Abia Speaker’s relentless Direct Touch Initiative).
