Yesterday, the United Kingdom experienced the coronation of a new monarchy following the demise of late Queen Elizabeth II, that is the coronation of King Charles.

Charles III is the new king of the United Kingdom and 14 other Commonwealth realms following his coronation yesterday.

One remarkable thing that caught our attention is the Golden Orb used for king Charlse’s coronation which was carried by a Nigerian of Igbo Descent, Ada Igbo, Dame Elizabeth Nneka Anionwu.

Who Is Dame Elizabeth Nneka Anionwu?

Dame is a British nurse, healthcare administrator, lecturer and emeritus professor of nursing at the University of West London.

She’s the Uk 1st nurse to specialist in care of sickle cell patients.

She’s the daughter of late LAWRENCE ANIONWU of ONITSHA, the 1st prem, sec in Nigeria’s ministry of foreign affairs, from 1960-1963 and also Nigerian 1st ambassador to Italy and the Vatican, 1964-1967.

In 1979, she became the United Kingdom’s first sickle cell and thalassemia specialist, she assisted the setting up the Brent sickle cell and thalassemia counseling center.

She is a recipient of the order of merit, Dame commander of the order of the British Empire and fellow of Royal College of Nursing (RCN)

She’s Nigerian, she’s Igbo.
