The Abia State government has uncovered a dangerous plot by the opposition parties in the state to cause mayhem during the election in a bid to change the will of the people.

This is coming few hours to the governorship and state house of assembly election as slated by the INEC.

Revealing the information in a press release obtained by ABACITYBLOG, the state commissioner for information, John Okiyi Kalu, said the opposition has set up their plans to cause chaos in the state thereby giving them the opportunity to rewrite the election result.

According to the press release, the plan of the opposition is to go on live radio broadcasts to announce the governorship election result before the INEC collation officer in the state.

The full statement reads….. “We have received information on a plot by an opposition party to use one of the private radio stations in the state to announce fake results of the governorship election holding in the state on Saturday March 9, 2019.

“The aim of the mischief makers include to declare a particular candidate as the winner of the election even before collation of results, cause chaos in the state as well as create conditions for the writing of and announcement of fake election results.

“The same opposition party has mobilized hoodlums from within and outside the state to cause anarchy.

“We wish to warn all broadcast stations in the state to ensure that they are not used for unlawful purposes, and also by this press release, put INEC and security agencies on notice with regard to this plot.

“Security agencies should fish out the hoodlums who are currently quartered in private homes of the opposition Chieftains in the state.

“We wish to assure Abia citizens and residents that the government is working assiduously with security agencies in the state to ensure that the election is peaceful with the outcome reflecting the wish of the people. All registered voters in the state are therefore advised to come out and vote for the candidates of thier choice without fear of harassment or intimidation.
