A chieftain of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Abia State, Chief Ndukwe Okam, who is also a kinsman of the candidate of the PDP in the recently concluded Abia North Senatorial election, has reacted angrily to an allegation by the PDP candidate, Senator Mao Ohuabunwa against All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, Dr Orji Uzor Kalu that the later rigged the election against the former in the Abia North senatorial election.
Sen. Ohuabunwa had on Thursday during an interview said Kalu was declared winner because he (Kalu) connived with some officials to rig the Senate and House of Representatives election in favour of All Progressives Congress (APC)
But in a swift reaction, Ohuabunwa’s kinsman while speaking to newsmen in Arochukwu said the allegation was ‘as useless as the accuser’
Okam stated that “Ohuabunwa is wrong to say that Orji Kalu rigged the senate and House of Representative elections for the APC .
According to him, “Ohuabunwa is of course lying as usual; and rude.
He is shameless and should keep his mouth shut because people are still angry with his very poor performance.
“When you talk about rigging election, it is Mao who used MOPOL 28 to rig the election. His only bad luck was that the people of Abia North including us his kinsmen did not want him and that was why it wasn’t business as usual. Of course you know what happened in the 2015 senate election. Was it not the same Mao that used both state and federal power to rig himself into the senate?
“Do you know the level of terror Mao unleashed on our people because of his desperation to win election? As I am talking to you now, two persons have been declared dead because of the rampant shootings that took place in Arochukwu courtesy of his well armed imported thugs. Many others are still recuperating in the hospital.” He said
Okam added that he had expected Ohuabunwa to take cue from others by congratulating Kalu in the spirit of sportsmanship, statesmanship and leadership .
