Civil Liberties Organization CLO Anambra State branch has appealed to President Muhammadu Buhari and Hon Minister of Education Malam Adamu Adamu to award scholarship to Miss Ejikeme Joy Mmesoma of Anglican Girls Secondary School Nnewi, Anambra State for scoring highest mark in this year UTME.
This is contained in a press statement issued to newsmen endorsed by Evangelist Comrade Vincent Ezekwueme chairman and Comrade Chidi Mbah Secretary respectively themed “education is the bedrock of every nation”
The precocious and outstanding student scored highest point of 362 and she is the best in this year UTME in the country as such deserved to be celebrated and appreciated to motivate other students.
Her remarkable performance is not only commendable, it has brought honour, respect, prestige, honour and glory to government and people of Anambra and a clear manifestation that the state is truly the light of the nation.
President Buhari award of scholarship to her will be a parting reward for hard work, rekindled reading culture in our students and motivation for actualization of their potentials in life.
It is note worthy that outstanding performances of students of Anambra State origin in both previous and current national and international competitions has justified huge investments in education by former governor Peter Obi administration and it’s sustenance by Professor Chukwumah Soludo administration.
We equally appeal to Gov. Soludo to also reciprocate outstanding performance of the student and school to encourage others for excellent performances.
It will be recall that in 2020 UTME two indigenes of Anambra State Agnes Mmaduafokwa and David Nwobi scored 363 and 362 respectively and they took first and second positions CLO equally made similar request from Federal Government.
We equally appeal to Gov. Soludo to establish public primary and secondary schools along Mba Farm, 3_3, Nsugbe and Nkwelle axis as most parents living in those areas cannot afford exorbitant fees by private schools as it has adversely affected education of many children due to paucity of fund.
