A clergyman, Rev Kalu Ukpai Ota, has described the Chief Whip of the Senate and Senator representing Abia North Senatorial District, Orji Uzor Kalu as the best Igbo federal parliamentarian since the First Republic.

According to him, no lawmaker from the Southeast has achieved Kalu’s performance within four years, noting that Kalu has joined the rank of prominent Igbo leaders like Nnamdi Azikiwe, Michael Okpara and Sam Mbakwe.

“We must tell ourselves the truth, since the Senate of the First Republic to this day, there has never been a lawmaker doing what Senator Orji Uzor Kalu is currently doing within four years in office. What we are currently seeing in Abia North today is unprecedented. It is not just in Abia North, he has projects in Abia Central and Abia South.”

Rev Ota, gave the commendation when he inspected the ongoing road construction in Atan Abam, Arochukwu Local Government Area of Abia State —which was facilitated by Senator Orji Uzor Kalu.

“Some people will ask why Pastors are talking about politics; I’m not a politician and I do not have any intention to be one, it is just in my nature to appreciate good things, especially good governance.

“Senator Orji Uzor Kalu has demonstrated capacity, dexterity, and the skills of good governance as evident in the number of projects he has attracted so far. This is the best I have seen since the First Republic. Being a lawmaker in Nigeria is not all about talking, but the ability to bring back good things to your people.

“Senator Orji Uzor Kalu has shown us that a senator can actually bring back good things home as evident with this Atan Abam road.

“Therefore, considering his towering accomplishments, I make bold to congratulate him in advance, because the reward for good work is more votes. We shall give him the necessary support to go back to Abuja and bring more goodies for our people.

“The era of deceiving the people that lawmakers make laws alone is gone. We are now in the era of show us what you brought back home from Abuja. Senator Orji Uzor Kalu has done that by attracting over 70 road projects, renovated so many schools and health centres, sunk boreholes, distributed school materials to our children, gave our children scholarships to study medicine and surgery abroad and so many others.”

He appealed to stakeholders to unite and continue to support Senator Orji Uzor Kalu for the overall development of Abia North Senatorial District.

“I am also using the opportunity to appeal to political stakeholders, religious leaders, community leaders and others to come together and rally round Senator Orji Uzor Kalu.

“We need to come together and rally round him for our Senatorial District to benefit more in the 10th Assembly. We must give Senator Orji Uzor Kalu the maximum support to ensure that our zone is one of the best in Nigeria,” he said.
