The Orji Uzor Kalu media office, has reacted to a report making it round on the media that the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, has declared the just concluded Abia North Senatorial election inconclusive.
The report came few days after the commission announced the former Abia State governor, Dr. Orji Uzor Kalu of APC, winner of the last week election, which he defeated the incumbent senator, Mao Ohuanwa of PDP.
Orji Kalu’s media office, reacting to the report which its described as fake and baseless, urged the public to remain calm and note that INEC’s result is still authentic and Kalu still remain the winner of the 2019 Abia North senatorial election.
The statement reads;
“Following a fake report being circulated on social media that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has declared the national assembly election in Abia North Senatorial district inconclusive, the Orji Kalu Media office has blasted Mr. Mao Ohuabunwa of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) for misleading the general public.
“INEC returning officer for Abia North Senatorial zone, Dr. Charles Anumudu had on Sunday, February 24, 2019 in the presence of all other party agents and the media at Ohafia Girls Secondary School (OGS), Amaekpu Ohafia, Ohafia LGA of Abia state declared former governor of Abia state, Dr. Orji Uzor Kalu of the All Progressives Congress (APC) winner of the senatorial election.
“Kalu polled 31, 208 votes beating Ohuabunwa , who scored 20, 801 votes and Chief DAvid Onuoha-Bourdex of All Progressives Grand Alliance(APGA) 11,410 votes.
“Upon declaration of the results by the designated returning officer, we expect all contestants to accept the results in good faith or seek redress in the court of law.
“We are by statement advising the general public to disregard the malicious and fake news being circulated by the PDP candidate and his cohorts.
“While expressing our gratitude to the people of Abia North for their unflinching support for Kalu and the APC, we urge members of our party to remain calm and steadfast.
