in Aba News

Abia State Chapter of of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has congratulated Imo State Governor, Sen. Hope Uzodinma over his victory at the Supreme Court today.

The Supreme Court had yesterday,
declared Uzodinmw, the candidate of the APC in the 2019 governorship election as Imo Governor.

A seven-man panel of the apex court led by the Chief Justice of Nigeria, Tanko Muhammad, unanimously declared Hope Uzodinma as the winner of the March 9, 2019, governorship election and the validly elected governor of the state.

In the judgment read by Justice Kudirat Kekere-Ekun, the judges unanimously agreed that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) was wrong to have excluded some votes from the scores of Uzodinma.

The court also instructed that Sen. Hope Uzodinma be sworn in immediately without delay, thereby sacking the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Hon. Emeka Ihedioha as Governor.

While declaring Uzodinma winner, Justice Kekere-Ekun, also said that the court agreed that results in 388 polling units totalling over 213, 295 votes were unlawful excluded during the collation of the final election result in Imo state.

The judge said with the result, the APC governorship candidate polled majority of lawful votes and ought to have been declared winner by INEC.

Hailing the judgement, the Publicity Secretary of Abia APC, Comrade Benedict Godson congratulated Senator Uzodinma and urged him to show Imolites the dividends of democracy they have been missing since the election ended.

“Some persons are surprised, but majority of us were not. We were all sure Imo is coming back to APC because the declaration of that result was done in a hurry without considering constitutional stipulations about how to win a state before declaration of winner.

“Hope is an experienced politician. He’s mature and ready. His stolen mandate has just been returned to him. We know he will bring out quality programmes to make life suitable for the people of Ndi-Imo.

“For us in Abia, we call on him to see his returned mandate and victory as return of hope and joy for Ndi-Imo. Like I said, he’s experienced and will surely bring in his years of experience to showcase what APC can offer to our neighbours.

“Hope with all his years of experience can never follow the vendetta and antagonistic style of governance we’ve been witnessing in Imo for awhile now.

“So, we in Abia join the rest of our people to celebrate Hope as the Governor that will surely restore hope to Ndi-Imo.

“Congratulations to Imolites, congratulations to ‘Onwa’ for we are sure he will shine again and darkness will never comprehend Imo anymore.”
