The women of Uzuakoli Kingdom in Bende L.G.A, Abia State staged a peaceful protest at EEDC Office Uzuakoli over what they called unjust and exorbitant EEDC bills being given to them by EEDC.
The women held the protest on Tuesday, 9th of February, 2021.
According to the woman, they are tired of paying such outrageous fees as EEDC bills and maintained that it is an irreconcilable fact on why people in Uzuakoli will be paying #14,000, #15,000, #18,000 and some #20,000 while people living in Umuahia pay less than that.
The women who were exercising their constitutional rights as enshrined in the Constitution of Nigeria were peaceful and prayed the relevant authorities including the EEDC Head office, in Enugu State to address this injustice and unwarranted exploitation being meted out to them.
According to them, they are only peasant farmers and cannot afford the outrageous EEDC bills slammed on them, even when they only use electric bulbs for light.
