Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State has been caught on tape reacting awkwardly when he was praised by delivering the State to the All Progressive Congress, APC, in the just concluded February 25th Presidential election.
Wike, a chieftain of the opposition Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, delivered his State, Rivers to the presidential candidate of the ruling All Progressive Congress, APC, an act which has drawn lots of backlash from Nigerians.
AbaCityBlog recall that during the election, there were records of violence in the State, where voters are beaten for voting against APC. Electorate who voted for Labour Party also accused Wike of rigging and result mutilation in a bid to deliver his State to APC.
While APC won Rivers, a State that the ruling party hardly get 25% since its emergence in 2015, one wonders how Governor Nyesom Wike did it.
Speaking at a bouquet organized for the President-elect, Bola Ahmed Tinubu in Port Harcourt, Rivers State capital during Tinubu’s two days working visit in the State, one of the APC chieftain that went with the President-elect, Governor Badaru of Jigawa State said he wondered how Wike delivered the State to APC.
He said: “When wike told Tinubu he would deliver Rivers State votes to APC, I kept wondering how he would do that, because we (APC) have never secured 25 percent of vote in Rivers state before.”
He, however, praised Gov Wike for doing what he tagged impossible task adding that the Presidency of Bola Tinubu would not forget the risk (Wike) took to deliver his State to APC.
