The Department of State Security DSS, has denied news that it tortured the late personal driver to the president Sai’du Afaka, before his death.
News had it that the DSS had before his death detained and Tortured Afaka for alleged tricking his principal to sign a fraudulent document to make millions of naira.
But the DSS Spokesman, Dr. Peter Afunanya, in a statement on Wednesday night described the report as misleading and false news.
The statement titled:
‘President’s Official Driver not detained or tortured by DSS’, said that the Agency does not engage in torturing of suspects, and asked the public to “disregard the fake news spewed by the online platform”.
The statement reads partly:
“While the said Driver was never arrested or detained by the Service, it is a known fact that it does not torture suspects. Its suspect handling method is usually in compliance with the tenets of criminal justice administration system and democracy.”
