Abubakar Shekau, Leader of Boko Haram terrorists claimed responsibility for the recent killing of tens of farmers in Borno, BBC reported on Tuesday.
Shekau, in a video released on Tuesday, said his men killed at least 78 instead of 43 bodies counted by the military, during last Saturday’s raid on rice farmers at Zabarmari community in Jere Local Government Area of Borno State.

Speaking on why they targeted the farmers, Shekau said his men went after the farmers because they handed over a member of the Boko Haram to the Nigerian army.
Shekau also threatened that the Boko Haram members will go after those giving out intelligence on their activities to the military.

Meanwhile, reacting over the killings, On Tuesday, senators called for President Muhammadu Buhari to sack service chiefs and replace them with people with fresh ideas and solutions.
In a rowdy session also on Tuesday, House of Representatives members summoned President Buhari over the state of the nation’s security.
