Old tweet of Prof Yemi Osinbajo has surfaced online where he was praising General Muhammadu Buhari for allowing his daughter to marry a Christian.
The tweet was made on 4th January, 2015 – prior to the general election – where the duo (Buhari and Osinbajo) was elected as the Nigeria’s President and Deputy after defeating the incumbent President Goodluck Jonathan.
According to investigative Journalist, David Hundeyin, who dug out the tweet, Osinbajo, who was then a running mate of Buhari – firstly made the statement on a live national television while on a campaign for the 2015 election.
“…it was a quote from a speech he delivered on the campaign trail. He was quoting himself here. I watched the speech live”, David replied a twitter user who opined that the VP might be quoting someone else.
In the said tweet, Osinbajo said;
“Look at his antecedents; his first daughter is married to a Christian, and all of that. These do not point to fundamentalism…” (Link Here…)
The tweet has elicited reaction from Nigerians following the fact that Osinbajo is a pastor with Redeem Christian Church and his caliber should know better when it comes for antecedent.
In the comment section, Nigerians have asked him to provide Buhari’s daughter who gets married to a Christian.
The post gained more traction following the recent events that followed Buhari’s administration and rising insecurity, persecution of Christians in Nigeria and the President inability to act when it comes to Christian persecution under his watch.
