There was an unexpected drama at the just concluded Oscars Award, when Will Smith punched comedian Chris Rock in the face on the Oscars stage a few hours ago after Chris made a G.I. Jane joke about Will’s wife, Jada.
Chris Rock was cracking a joke using G.I. Jane haircut, which he correlates with the hairstyle of Jada, Will Smith’s wife.
Irked over the joke, Will, who sat in the front row stepped on the stage and punched Chris Rock in the face.
In reaction, Chris said “Will Smith just smacked the sh*t out of my face”. While Smith was seen, yelling at Chris from his seat, he said; “get my wife’s name out of your f**king mouth”.
However, Will Smith went on to win Best Oscar for Male Performance, the first of his career but his behaviour earlier has overshadowed the big win because the altercation is what everyone is talking about.
Will Smith did apologise for the incident during his Oscars acceptance speech and said he was tired of the constant abuse he and his family receive.
The LAPD has since released a statement saying they have not acted because Chris Rock has not filed charges yet. And Chris has insisted that he would not file charges against Will Smith.
