Presidential candidate of the African Action Congress, Omoyele Sowore, has lambasted the flag bearer of the All Progressive Congress, APC, Bola Ahmed Tinubu for being absent at the signing of the 1st National Peace Accord at the ICC in Abuja.
Sowore, who decried the idea of signing peace pact ahead of the 2023 presidential election, said, “I don’t know why we’re signing this peace accord when we are not at war. This signifies that Nigeria is at war. Elections are a war in this country.”
Speaking on the absent of Tinubu who was being represented by his running mate, Kashim Shettima, Sowore said the latter cannot run Nigeria in absentia.
In the sitting position, Sowore said Shettima should have sat in the same position with the other party’s running mates, adding that the position he sat was not meant for his principal who was supposed to be at the event.
“If I was seated there I will not stand up for him”, Sowore said, noting that the seat was meant for Tinubu and not Shettima. “Tinubu was supposed to be here because you cannot be running Nigeria for Presidency in absentia”, Sowore added.
