Nigerians on social media are reacting over a viral video of Kano State governor, Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, converting a Christian girl to Islam.
The governor, a staunch Muslim, had presided over the conversion of the girl renamed her with an Islamic name. However, Nigerians has reacted why the Governor did the conversion.
“Ganduje is seen in this video converting a Christian girl to Islam and changing her name. This shows clearly that he is a governor only to the muslims. This is reckless”, says a Nigerian, Usman Okai Austin, who shared the video on twitter.
Also reacting, Madam Aisha Yesufu, co-convener of #BringBackOurGirls movement, questioned the age of the Christian girl and if she is old enough to give consent.
“Is that girl, old enough to give consent? – Aisha asked while quoting the video.

Nigerian Muslims and Christians Clashed on Twitter!
While the video may seems as inappropriate to Christians in Nigeria, Muslims are applauding Governor Gadunje for the conversion.
@solomonapenja supposedly a Christian said; “If a Christian man does this to a Muslim girl in Kano, Ganduje will have his head on a spike for instigating disharmony in Kano State
“The sheer hypocrisy of that act.
A Muslim, @Bashwaziri countered the above comment and said; “Everybody has been doing same. Have you forgotten the kids that were even kidnapped from their parents in Kano, taken to the southeast and converted? That is even a more grievous offence!
“Wished you had the same energy when as happened on those little kids too
Another Christian, @GoldMyrrhFranki said; “If a Christian governor were to do this, arewa will be on fire. A simple statement which govern or Wike made, they didn’t sleep for a month.
A Muslim, @swaggeraun counters the above statement, according to him, “Wike did worst and heaven didn’t fall!

Another Muslim @rijiyaman said the video is reckless and should be shared on social media, “This post of yours is typically reckless, the girl has the right to choose her religion, Ganduje only intermediated.
A Christian, @Dant_ey, counters the above statement, he said; “It’s reckless because it favors your religion, police stations would have been burnt n atleast one innocent human would have gone down.
Another social media commentator @oluobededom said; “This looks like a forced conversion. This is where I expected our “feminists” to show their prowess, but no, it’s only to defend a show-off of “their” private parts online and call it independence.
@FestusGreen said; “This is obviously a forced conversion. This girl child seems to be under duress & pressure. Has she attained the age of consent?
“Of all the plethora of challenges bedeviling Kano State, Governor Ganduje Gandollar selected to prioritize the conversion of a girl child? Jeez!
