Former Presidential candidate, Omoyele Sowore was attacked yesterday during the trial of the IPOB leader, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu in Abuja.
Sowore had stormed the Abuja federal high court in solidarity with Nnamdi Kanu, when thugs descended on him and a security officer who appears on mufti tried to stab him during the attack.
Fortunately, Kanu’s supporters came and rescued Sowore and they put him in a moving vehicle, Sowore moved.
In the heat of the attack, the thugs started attacking Kanu’s supporters which turned into a crisis that led to the security agents to start shooting sporadically and according to Barrister Anyanwu, two of Kanu’s supporters were shot in the leg and they, however, were picked up by security agents.
Speaking to Rootstv, the legal practitioner who is on the legal team of the IPOB leader, said the thugs would have killed Sowore if not for the intervention of Kanu’s supporters.
Barr. Anyanwu said the injustice he saw during the attack and how the security agents responded made him ashamed to be a Nigerian.
“If someone called me a Biafran, the person is right, because I’m ashamed to be a Nigerian. What happened here today made me question if we are all in the same country, called Nigeria.”
