The PLWDS-friendly Speaker of Abia State House of Assembly, Rt Hon Chinedum Enyinnaya Orji ensured that “The Abia State Commission for Disabled Persons Bill” otherwise known “Disability Law” as sponsored by Hon Paul Taribo (Ukwa East) was passed into Law at the plenary of last Wednesday despite several odds and encumbrances that mitigated against the smooth passage of the bill into law.
The next day, as the Speaker attended a novelty match to create awareness about PVCs at the Umuahia Township Stadium, he was ambushed by persons living with disabilities (PLWDS) as they hailed him for hearing their cry and ensuring that the life-changing Bill was passed into Law.
