The Senate Chief Whip, Senator Orji Uzor Kalu has reacted to the recent protest which took place in Aba, the commercial hub of Abia State.
The protests which was organized by the Abia PDP took place in Aba on Monday, 29th March, 2021 – 48 hours after the Aba North and South Bye-Election was conducted and won by the PDP candidate, Chimaobi Ebisike.
During the protests led by Mr. Erondu Jnr and other PDP members, the protesters declared the Abia North senator, Orji Uzor Kalu a “persona non grata”.
According to the protesters, Senator Kalu’s statement that most projects done in Aba was funded by the federal government was a fallacy, they cited that almost all projects in Abia are being funded by Gov. Ikpeazu’s administration.
They, therefore, challenged Senator Kalu to provide evidence, else they will take the protest to all parts of the State.
Reacting the former Abia State governor said the protesters declaration is laughable. According to him, he spent ten days in Aba even before the election took place.
The Senator stated this while addressing the newsmen on Tuesday during constituency projects inspection in Nkporo, Ohafia LGA, Abia State.
He said;
“I was in Aba even before the election and they can’t do it when I was there, if they do it they will see what will happen.
“Because if I ask Aba people to reacts, it will cause trouble but I won’t do it because I’m a lover of peace. I want them to use the same energy to solve the problem of Aba.
“What are you protesting? You brought thugs you took the election and we congratulated you even though you took the election but we have learnt our lesson and it will never happen again.
