Catholic Reverend Father, Kelvin Ugwu has opined that today’s Christians are more superstitious than the pagans.
Father Ugwu said it’s worrisome that they attached some mysterious and diabolic powers to things that are very strange to them.
He made the statement via his official Facebook page, as he shared a video and photos of an Owl he found in his office.
The Reverend Father said he had met the owl shortly before he travelled out to Malawi for his sister’s wedding.
The Catholic priest was hinting at the way Christians reacts to things they don’t know. He added that if it were to be some Christians, at sighting the owl, they would have thought that the bird is evil or a witch that is sent by village people to harm them.
The priest said, having understand that owl doesn’t see well in the day, he left the bird there in his office and release it in the night, ad it flew away.
He wrote.
“Shortly before I travelled out of Malawi for my sister’s wedding, an Owl flew into my office. Because I know that it can’t see clearly during the day as much as during the night, I allowed it to relax in my office since it was during the day, and when I released it at night, you needed to see the excitement in this pretty nocturnal creature.
“Maybe I would have concluded that it was sent by my village people to disrupt my sister’s wedding because three days to her traditional wedding, she was admitted into the hospital and was vomiting and shaking like one that won’t survive it. Or maybe I would have seen it as a sign that God has brought my enemies to shame by allowing the animal to show itself in my office.
“I know some persons that will declare 21 days fasting and prayers, after which they will empty bottles of Goya oil in the corners of the office wall and burn incense every night in the name of cleansing.
“The truth is, what we do not understand or what does not fall into our ‘normal’ everyday experiences, we often attach some mysterious and diabolic powers to them. We are often our own “demons” and “witches” and “village people.” Today’s Christians are more superstitious than even the pagans.
