You need to know what you’re doing when you put on a suit and have the right physique to pull it off. And most people should bend but not break the rules when it comes to suiting. Plus, you might come across some amusing depictions of rule-breaking that failed to gain traction.

Men’s suits are similar to a highly customizable uniform because it has a standard set of components that must be followed. So, check out this short list of basic guidelines and do your best to internalize the information contained inside.

1. First, Ensure A Comfortable Shoulder Fit

Did you know that tailoring a suit’s shoulders is very tricky? Choose a mens suits that fit your shoulders well when buying it off the rack to avoid the dreaded shoulder divot. Shoulders should be prioritized over waist and leg length when looking for a suit because your tailor can alter them. If you want to avoid having others assume that your new suit doesn’t fit properly, you should take off the label from the left sleeve and the stitching from the vents before you wear it for the first time.

 2. Customize Your Suit

It’s impossible to look sharp in a suit if it doesn’t fit properly. No matter how well you take care of yourself, you will look unprofessional without a suit that fits you snugly and skims over your curves in the proper areas.

Spend the extra money on a custom-tailored suit, and you’ll look more put together immediately. If you’re trying to save money, you should pay special attention to the fit of your pants and sleeves. If you’re wearing a two-button jacket, the top button should rest at or above your navel, and the same goes for a three-button jacket’s middle button.

 3. Wear The Appropriate Tie With Your Suit

Are you worried that you won’t know which tie to pick because of this? Your tie should be darker than your shirt to strike an appropriate balance; however, you should avoid exact matches, such as a black tie with a black suit. A lighter tie will look better with a dark suit, and vice versa.

Instead of wearing a solid-colored tie, which is also a bit dated, try one with a micro pattern for a more modern and chic appearance. Avoid matching the pattern of your tie and dress shirt if you want to experiment with pattern mixing while wearing a suit. Pairing a paisley tie with a checkered shirt is one option for balancing the shirt’s more relaxed pattern. You should never wear a tie bar that is wider than your tie, but that’s just my opinion.

4. Invest In A Good Undershirt

The combination of a base layer, a dress shirt, and a suit jacket might make for an ideal environment for developing unsightly sweat stains. To avoid embarrassing sweat stains on your formal shirt, wear a Thompson Tee undershirt instead. It’s the most effective method for keeping cool in a suit without removing it.

The moisture from your perspiration won’t be able to penetrate your outer layers thanks to existing proprietary technology, which is used in the construction of our sweat-proof undershirt. The sweat marks under your arms will ruin the look of your clothes.

5. Aim For Perfection In The Size Of Your Tie And Jacket

Short ties may have been in style in the 1940s, but they are definitely out of style now. Wearing a tie that is either short or too long will make you look unorganized and out of place.

The end of your tie should touch the top of your belt buckle or the waistband of your pants. It must, however, be kept above the waist at all times. The proper length for a suit jacket is to cover the fly and butt of the pants you plan to wear with it.

6. Well-tune The Knot Dimple

Perhaps you’re wondering, “What is a tie dimple?” The dimple at the top of your tie is entirely normal and, at first glance, completely accidental. Mastering the art of the tie dimple involves time and effort put in by the wearer. A thick, wide tie made of silk or cashmere is preferable to a thin, narrow cotton tie if you want to get a perfect tie dimple.

7. You May Match the Belts And Shoes

Pulling off a more polished look by matching your belt and shoes is simple. If you don’t know what you’re doing, you might wear a brown belt with black shoes, or vice versa. Shoes and belts don’t have to be an exact match, but they should complement one another.

8. Tighten Up Those Buttons On Your Shirt

Every single button on a shirt is meant to be fastened. Two fingers should fit easily between your neck and the collar when the buttons are fully secured. To know if you need a new dress shirt is to see if you have trouble buttoning the top button. Try on your shirt while wearing an undershirt to be sure it fits right.

Final Thought

Preparing your clothes the night before saves time and effort in the morning. As though working out a muscle. Give some consideration to your outfit choices regularly. You’ll eventually improve your sense of style to the point where you can effortlessly put together a killer ensemble.
