What proof exists that Nigerians practiced genocide or deliberately killed about three million Igbos? The Igbo Holocaust is the name given to the murder of millions of Igbos, and other ethnic groups of Eastern Nigerian origin murdered before and after the outbreak of the Nigerian Civil war and is modeled after the murder of six million Jews, Gypsies etc. by the Nazis during Second World War.
The purpose of this project is to preserve for future generation an authentic evidence of a head count of persons who lost their lives arising from the civil war categorized demographically and geographically.
The need for this body of knowledge is underscored by my recent experience in Netherlands, Paris, and Poland when the curators of the museums I visited presented me with bodies of evidence on the number of Jews who died on account of the holocaust.
Also, when I visited the American Military Cemetery in Maastricht I asked the question how many Common Wealth Soldiers of African descent died in the Second World War and I was presented with verifiable evidentiary material.
But in our case nobody knows the number of mass killings in Kano Airport, Kano Metropolis, Jos, Maiduguri, and other cities in Nigeria prior to 1970, and thereafter.
While I was in Netherlands I inspected some of the Uniforms of Napoleon’s Army and saw porcelain used by Roman Soldiers in the second century.
Therefore, we need to change this culture of careless abandon to our historical edifice, and this accounts for why our young men are advocating a strategy of military confrontation rather than peaceful negotiation.
