The Tertiary Education Trust Fund ( TETFund ) has organized a capacity building training for both senior teaching and non teaching staff of the Federal Polytechnic Offa on International Certificate for Digital Learning ( ICDL ).
The 5-Day training programme that commenced on Monday, 24th of August, 2020 was declared open by the Rector of the institution, Dr. Lateef Ademola Olatunji at the Polytechnic’s main campus.
While giving the opening address, Dr. Olatunji expressed profound gratitude to TETFund for its support towards the infrastructural development, staff training and other immense contributions to the development of the institution and equally grateful for the new initiative aimed at encouraging staff to be more ICT compliance and improve their computer application skills.
The Rector, emphasizing on the benefit of the training, said International Computer Driving License (ICDL) is the world’s leading computer skills certification in Microsoft office application for base, standard and advanced users in the Information Technology to enhance efficiency and deliver quality work. He therefore urged the participants to be punctual and prompt throughout the training.
He said: ” It is no longer news that Information and Communication Technology ( ICT) pervades virtually all domains of modern life educationally, professionally, socially and personally. I therefore urged all of us to avail ourselves of this rare opportunity by paying full attention and concentration during the training session.”
He further urged the Polytechnic staff to ensure strict adherence to all measures against the raging Covid-19 pandemic as prescribed by Nigeria Center for Disease Control ( NCDC) during and after the training.
Also speaking, one of the Tetfund representatives, Mrs. Abdulraheem Mariam admonished the participants to be focused with seriousness and dedication in order to achieve the desired result at the end of the training.
According to her, ” The training is to improve the capacity building of the staff and at the end of the day, we hope to have more Information Technology ( IT) oriented staff and hopefully, there will be more of this training to be done in the future. So, I urge every participant to take it serious because the certification is global.”
Meanwhile, the Polytechnic’s Director of Information Communication Technology ( ICT ), Engr. ( Dr.) A.O Ajao commended the representatives of TETFund from Abuja, the facilitators from Fozy Global Concepts and also acknowledged the management of the Federal Polytechnic Offa led by Dr. Olatunji. He thereby charged the participants to utilize the opportunity and take the advantage of the training to enhance their Information Communication Technology ( ICT) knowledge in order to be proud to have attended the programme at the end of the day.
” I want to appreciate the leadership of the Rector for facilitating this training programme and for making sure that all Covid-19 prevention protocols are made available. I want to thank the TETFund representatives for their presence. We hope to have more of this type of programme from TETFund,” he added.
