Former Governor of Abia State and Chief Whip of the Senate, Dr. Orji Kalu has urged christians across the country to use the Easter season to pray for Nigeria and leaders at all levels.
Congratulating the christian community on the completion of lent fasting and Easter celebration, Kalu admonished Nigerians to demonstrate the exemplary qualities of Jesus christ in their daily pursuits, adding that Nigeria’s religious, cultural and ethnic diversity should be seen as an asset and not a tool for disharmony.
The former Governor cautioned the political class against inflammatory utterances capable of jeopardizing Nigeria’s nascent democracy, adding that the collective interest of the people should be placed above selfish ambitions.
In his Easter message, Kalu urged politicians not to see politics as a-do-die affair, noting that Nigeria’s democracy is fast growing and yielding positive results.
He said, “I felicitate with christians on the occasion of this year’s Easter celebration.
“It is yet another opportunity for sober reflection as individuals and as a nation.
“Nigerians in the spirit of Easter should embrace peace, love, forgiveness and togetherness.
“Regardless of religious differences, we must tolerate and respect other people’s values and beliefs for the sake of peace and unity”.
Kalu wished the christian faithful a fulfilling Easter celebration while urging religious and spiritual leaders to use their platforms in advocating peace and harmony across the nation.
