Senator representing Abia North Senatorial zone in the national assembly, Dr. Orji Uzor Kalu, has finally speaks on why he stepped down for Senator Ahmed Lawan for Senate President and Senator Ovie Omo-Agege for Deputy Senate President.
ABACITYBLOG recalled that Dr. Kalu, contested for the position of the senate president and deputy senate president, the positions he later gave up at the 11th hour.
However, speaking on Saturday, during his inauguration party, held in his country home in Igbere, Bende LGA, Abia State.
The event which was graced by his supporters and constituents from all walks of life.
Senator Kalu, a chieftain of ruling All Progressive Congress, APC, said he stepped down because he is loyal to the party and will not allow anything that will bring division to the party.
“Let me tell you, our party, the APC is supreme, we have the strength. On the days of the election for senate president, many people blamed me for stepping down from the senate presidential bid.
“They said, why did you step down, I said to them, I stepped down because I cannot disobey the President of Nigeria, I cannot disobey the National Working Committee of our party. I could have won the election if I contested, but that would have been against the interest of the party.
“I have shown the supremacy of the party, which is more important than what we want… Watch the video below:
