The senate chief whip, Senator Orji Uzor Kalu, have congratulated the Bayelsa APC governor-elect, Mr. David Lyon, on his victory.
Mr. Lyon, an All Progressive Congress, APC, governorship candidate for Bayelsa in the last Saturday election had won the election after defeating his opponent, Diri Duoye, the governorship candidate of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP).
The APC polled 352552 while PDP got 143170 votes.
Reacting to the victory of Lyon which is automatically the victory for all APC members, Kalu, former Abia State governor and senator representing Abia North, described the victory as a clear indication that the electorates have confidence in the APC.
He said…
“The victory of Mr David Lyon of the @APCNigeria in November 16th governorship election in Bayelsa State,shows is a clear indication that the electorates have confidence in the APC. They have spoken with their votes& the new governor elect will, no doubt, live up to expectations.
“The governorship candidates of all the political parties must be commended for the level of maturity displayed before, during and after the poll.The results of the election were accepted across board in good faith.
“The Governor-elect must adopt a participatory approach to governance by running an all-inclusive government. “The mandate given to the newly elected governor is for the entire citizenry of Bayelsa State, including the political opponents of the governor elect.
“The interest of the people must be placed above selfish ambitions. I commend Independent National Electoral INEC, security agencies, civil society organisations & other stakeholders for ensuring a hitch-free poll, cautioned politicians against violence and other social vices.
