Sen. Orji Uzor Kalu, representing the Abia North Senatorial zone has emerge as the Head African Parliamentary Union (APU), one of the international lawmaking unions at the National Assembly.
Kalu, who doubles as the Senate Chief Whip will be leading the APU for the next four years.
The former Abia State governor is to lead a delegation of the National Assembly comprising of the Senate and House of Representatives from 24-30 November, 2019.
Our correspondent gathered that the Senate President, Ahmed Lawan is also heading the International Parliamentary Union (IPU).
A source at the National Assembly told our correspondent that two other international lawmaking unions are domiciled at the House of Representatives.
All efforts to reach the federal lawmaker for a comment proved abortive.
A source close to the office of the clerk of the National Assembly who pleaded anonymity confirmed Kalu’s appointment of the APU.
