Popular singer, song writer, Ruffcoin Nwaba has accused the Abia State government of owing him after he performed at the 2017 Made In Aba campaign in New York, USA.
AbaCityblog recall that Ruffcoin performed at the show where he thrilled Abia citizens in New York.
The show which was graced by the Senator representing Abia South Senatorial district, Enyinnaya Abaribe was sponsored by the Abia State government.
Revealing this in a lengthy post he shared on his IG page, Ruffcoin who lately called for prayers for Abia State to be librated from the shackles of godfatherism and Underdevelopment, said contrary to what people are saying that he fell out with the state government, he was never sponsored by them.
Setting the record straight, Ruffcoin said instead of gaining from the state government, they only benefitted from him, he recalled that during 2015 election he did a song in support of Okezie Ikpeazu and personally submitted about 5000 CDs to him.
He said the government used his pictures and erected billboards in promotion of Made In Aba without due authorization from him.
Reacting to a comment made by a social media user, Ruffcoin Nwaba wrote;
“I think it’s important I set the record straight for those who are misinformed.
“The Made In Aba campaign I was involved in was put together by @tbwa_concept and sponsored by Ford Foundation, they paid me, not Abia State Govt. Abia state Govt rather used my song “Aba Made” as official song for their own campaign and put billboards of me around Aba without any form of payment or even due authorization.
“The only time I performed in an Abia State Govt sponsored Made in Aba campaign was in New York in 2017. I had been going to America prior to that but my visa was expired at that time.
“Fast tracked my visa renewal process at my expense, they only sent one million naira as part of logistics fee and they still owe my performance fee and remainder of logistics money till today.
“You may want to mention my involvement in the Okezuo Abia 2015 election campaign, I made the official campaign song and I donated 5k copies of Cd’s to Dr Okezie personally, totally free of charge and the cds were shared in their rallies.
“I showed up and performed in about 3 of the rallies 100 percent free of charge as my support for Dr Okezie Ikpeazu was only based on his promise to transform Aba, it was never about money. Rather i rejected millions from an opposition party then.
“Contrary to the rumors, the only money I have received from Abia State Govt both past and present was during MIAconcert in 2018. I presented the proposal to the governor, total cost was pegged at 25million naira and He promised to give 15million but only released 5m about 3days to the event.
#Miaconcert was 70 percent off my pocket as stage lights and sound alone gulped that 5m, we didn’t have sponsors and I got less than a million Naira from ticketing.
“Posting this so anybody who has anything contrary to say can talk now, let’s end this baseless rumor of Ruffcoin being sponsored by Abia State Govt in 2021.
Happy New Year from
