An aspirant for the Umuahia Central State Constituency on the platform of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in Abia State, Sir Maduakolam Kenneth Adighibe, has appealed to the party to return the mandate given to him by delegates during the just concluded primary elections.
It should be recalled that the Abia State APC, had published the name of one Emerson Charles as the winner of the House of Assembly primary election for Umuahia Central.
In a statement, Adighibe said he was shocked that an election that was conducted in the open that had someone win overwhelmingly could be tampered with by the party.
He said it would be grave injustice to transfer the mandate given to someone to another person.
Adighibe, who claimed to have won the primary election, stated that he was prepared to protect the wishes and aspirations of his fellow party members in Umuahia Central by ensuring that he got back the mandate that was given to him.
He reminded the Abia State APC that only credible candidates that enjoy the support of the majority of the people had the chance of winning in the 2023 general elections.
