According to a reliable source in the Police headquarters Umuahia the case involved Dr. Ibe an INEC official who is still in currently in police custody was arrested over result falsification, thumb printing and other related electoral fraud.

Ibe in a written confessional statement admitted to have committed the offence on the instruction of Senator Mao of the people’s Democratic Party.

The source further revealed that Ibe tore a result sheet which the candidate in which the APC was leading.

A DPO and inspector that were also invited for interrogation over the electoral crime had already made useful statement to the police, they also identified two security aides of Senator Mao who were also involved in the crime.

The NYSC members who were also arrested by the police while thumbprinting in the bush have also written confessional statements that they were kidnapped and forced to carry out the act under the forceful instruction of the PDP Senator.

According to the corp members they were kidnapped because they refused to comprise to rewrite results in favour of the PDP candidate which prompted the PDP thugs to tear an original result which the APC was leading.

The police source also said that the force had written an invitation letter to Senator Mao report to the station today, the Senator however replied that he was in Abuja.

The case which has gathered strong momentum and the police force has vowed to transfer the case to the force headquarters Abuja. Withe amount of evidence at the disposal of the police force Umuahia Senator Mao was in big trouble.

It is pointless for the Senator to challenge the result at the tribunal since he was the one involved in electoral malpractice and kidnapping. Because the police had gathered all the evidence and the statements of the kidnapped corp members which has revealed that it was only the PDP that were anxious to rig this was also corroborated by the members of the APGA in Arochukwu local Government

The source further confirmed that they had all the information and all those arrested in connection with the atrocities identified Senator Mao as the one who sent them.

It can be recalled that Dr. Orji Uzor Kalu a former Governor of the State polled a total 31,203 votes to defeat the incumbent, Ohuabunwa who polled 20,801 votes and the candidate of the All Progressive Grand Alliance Chief David Ogba who scored 11,410 votes.
