President Muhammadu Buhari has broken silence over the conflict between the former Managing Director of NDDC, Joy Nunieh, and the Minister of Niger Delta Affairs, Godswill Akpabio.
Recall that Nunieh accused Akpabio of sexual harassment, fraud amongst others.
The Niger Delta Affairs boss denied the accusations leveled against him by the former NDDC MD.
The president in a statement signed and forwarded to DAILY POST by his spokesman, Garba Shehu. ordered a speedy and coordinated investigation into the fraudulent allegations in Niger Delta Development Commission, NDDC.
According to the directive, auditing firms and investigative agencies working in collaboration with the National Assembly Committees to resolve the challenges in the NDDC must initiate actions in a time-bound manner and duly inform the Presidency of the actions being taken.
Buhari called for better coordination among security and investigating agencies with the National Assembly to ensure that the administration’s effort to bring sanity, transparency, and accountability to the management of the resources dedicated to the development of the Niger Delta sub-region is not derailed.
Meanwhile, the Governor of Rivers State Nyesom Wike had today visited the house of former Managing Director of the Niger Delta Development Commission, Joy Nunieh, to “rescue” her after the place was surrounded by policemen, who barred her from leaving home this morning.
Wike forced entry into Nunieh’s house and ordered the police officers out of the premises.
