Following the recent happenings in the country, Pope Francis has reacted to the way the Nigerian government approached peaceful protesters with violence.
The Pope reaction came on the backdrop of how Nigerian government handled the EndSARS protesters. A protest organised by Nigerian youths against the now disbanded brutal police unit, known as Special Anti-Robbery Squad, SARS.
The protest took another turn on Tuesday when some gun men dressed in military camouflage invaded the protest ground at Lekki Tollgate in Lagos and opened fire on the peaceful protesters.
Reacting over the incident which has drew the attention of the international community, Pope Francis via twitter post prayed to God that any form of violence will be avoided.
“Let us pray to the Lord for Nigeria, so that every form of violence might always be avoided, in the constant search of social harmony through the promotion of justice and the common good”.
