The Lagos State government led by Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, yesterday announced that the Italian man who tested positive for the COVID-19 a disease caused by Coronavirus is now tested “Negative”.
Making the BIG announcement which brought relief to other patients of the deadly virus as Nigeria has recorded 11 cases; The governor shares photos of the medical practitioners who are working tirelessly at the Infectious disease center in Lagos.
Among the individuals in the photo is the Italian Man who brought the first case of Coronavirus to Nigeria.
The face of the man in the picture was covered with an ink in a bid to protect his identity to avoid being vulnerably to attack.

It should be recalled that an Italian citizen (name withheld) who works in Nigeria, returned from Milan, Italy to Lagos, on the 25th of February 2020, he was the first case of the COVID-19 recorded in the Country.
According to reports, He was later quarantined at the Lagos Infectious Disease center in Yaba.

Breaking the news, Sanwolu who took to his twitter page, said; “I am glad to inform you that the index case; the Italian gentleman is now negative”.
He however, added that “Through a combined effort of Lagos, Ogun State and Fed Health Authorities, they were able to limit the transmission of the virus to a single contact”.
According to him, the team of the health workers got the amazing result by putting in an aggressive contact tracing and containment strategies.
“However we now have several new imported cases and we hope we can apply the same contact tracing strategy along with social distancing to slow down the outbreak which may be brewing from these new cases”, Governor Sanwolu added.
“The index patient consented to donating one unit of white blood (plasma) before he was discharged today. The blood plasma is rich in antibody proteins that target #COVID19 virus.
“The white blood plasma is frozen in our Bio-bank and will be useful in handling new cases.
“The blood plasma will be beneficial for the treatment of new patients in the absence of a defined therapeutic drug for #COVID19 yet.
“The patient appreciated the exceptional care and support given to him by staff of the infectious Disease Hospital,Yaba and all members of the EOC
“The EOC team was extremely happy to bid the patient farewell.
“Once again, we will like to convey the enthusiasm of the team to do the very best possible in handling incidents of #COVID19.
