Abia State Commissioner of Police, Ene Okon has confirmed the arrest of five suspects in connection with the kidnapping of a boy.
Okon said that the five men have all confessed to the crime and are currently undergoing interrogations.
“I’m aware of the arrest of five kidnappers that have confessed to be involved in kidnapping escapades. They are undergoing interrogation,” he said when contacted.
The boy who is said to be a native of Umuoba in Isiala-Ngwa was reportedly kidnapped by the men as a bait to get ransom from his rich brother who said to be residing in Europe.
Aba City Blog reports that names of the suspects are: Ejike Nwankocha ( M) 42, who claimed to be a Native doctor, David Alfred (M) 23, Augustine Ejike (M) 24, Alexander Azubunne (M) 24, and Chide Monye (M) 23.
It was gathered that Men of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) led by their commander, SP Johnbull Obioguru arrested the suspects on Sunday at Isiala-Ngwa.
It was gathered that the kidnappers confessed to have specialize in kidnapping and robbing people of the valuables in Isialangwa, Umuahia/Aba Highway and the Owerrinta axis of the state.
They also confessed to belonging to a dangerous Aro secret cult group operating in Aba and its environs.
Aba City Blog gathered that two locally made guns, several leg chains, and a Battle axe, handcuffs and charms were recovered from the venue of the arrest.
