President Muhammadu Buhari, on Thursday, conferred Nigerian citizenship on 286 foreign nationals.
The event held at the Aso rock villa in Abuja.
In an announcement on Twitter, President Buhari congratulated the recipients.
“Today at the State House we formally presented Certificates of Naturalization and Registration to 286 foreign nationals, from around the world, who are now citizens of Nigeria; members of the Nigerian family,” he wrote.
“No matter where they have come from, or what faith they practice, this country is now their country. Our history is now their history, and our traditions are now their traditions. Nigeria is their home and pride and joy. Congratulations to all 286 of them.
“Together, we are a nation united by the principles of opportunity, equality, and liberty that are enshrined in our constitution.”
