Senator representing Anambra Central Senatorial zone, Uche Ekwunife has said that the outcome of Saturday’s Osun State gubernatorial polls was an authentic reflection of the people’s mandate.
Ekwunife, Chairman of the Senate Committee on Science and Technology disclosed this in a congratulatory message to the People’s Democratic Party Governor elect, Senator Ademola Adeleke.
In a statement released on Monday, Ekwunife also commended the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for the deployment of latest technology which aided the smooth voting process including the security personnels for remaining neutral and carrying out their security duties which made the process free , fair and largely peaceful.
“I congratulate Senator Ademola Adeleke over his victory at the recently conducted governorship election in Osun State.
“Adeleke’s victory is no doubt the true reflection of the wishes of the people of the state, the electorates through the ballot have embraced the message of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the state. The gold people of Osun have bestowed tremendous confidence and trust upon Adeleke to drive the state on the path of economic prosperity.
“I therefore congratulate the PDP family for their role in Adeleke’s victory, our party remains the foremost platform for the delivery of good governance in the country.
“Let me also commend the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), and security personnel for their contributions by living up to their constitutional responsibilities which aided the free, fair and peaceful exercise in the state, ” Ekwunife said.
Adeleke, candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), was declared winner of the Osun governorship election on Sunday.
The PDP candidate won 17 LGAs while the incumbent governor secured victory in 13 LGAs.
Adeleke secured 403,371 votes to defeat Gboyega Oyetola of the All Progressives Congress (APC), who polled 375,027 votes.
