The group, known as Urhobo Political Group (UPG), made the endorsement through a unanimous voice vote by its members during a meeting held at the Owumi Guest House, Ughelli, Delta State on Wednesday, May 29, 2019.
In his address to members of the group, the group’s coordinator, Honourable Jerry Uloho, who described Senator Orji Kalu as a man of integrity, whose track record as governor of Abia State was enviable and without blemish, urged all well-meaning Nigerians at home and in diaspora to rally round the former governor of Abia State for the postof DSP. Hon Uloho said electing Senator Orji Kalu as deputy senate president would add candour to the image of Nigeria that is presently in a near obscure level.
“As an industrialist, who has made much input in the economy of the country, Orji Kalu, as DSP, would be a plus to the second term of President Muhammadu Buhari in his attempt to improve Nigeria’s economy and the fight against corruption.”
“If Orji Uzor Kalu becomes the DSP, everybody will sleep; heavens will not destroy heavens.
“His promotion will not be a punishment to fellow Nigerians and with Orji Kalu, not only the South-South and South-East but the entire nation will be comfortable.”
